— What we did —
JIMDO asked the Brigade to develop a series of marketing films that could highlight new product features and increase the overall production value from past campaigns. Our team began developing a visual design system that could express JIMDO’s website building features in a unique way. Our design team worked through a number of iterations that included illustration, character design, and 3D graphics before landing on a minimalstic direction inspired by the rectangle within the JIMDO logo itself. Our team conceived the “responsive grid”, a set of visual rules that our animators adapted into motion to tell this story. The grid has a central rectangular region to display information and is carefully populated with primitive shapes in order to build inviting compositions.
JIMDO is a German company that required extensive versioning as part of the Brigade’s services, our team created both German and English versions for Episodes 3 & 4 which have a running time of five minutes each. Each film then required a full range of cutdown versions for each language. The project ran almost three months and was lead by the following team:
Creative Director: Frank Pichel
Art Direction: Will Kim
Producer: Paul Schneider
2D Animator: Theresa Castellucci
Editor: Joe Dillingham
Illustration: Lavency Renaud
Managing Director: David DiMeola
